Strategic Marine seals South Korean CTV deal

Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has signed a new contract with South Korea’s Yeosu Ocean for the construction of a StratCat 27 crew transfer vessel (CTV), following its entry into the country’s offshore windfarm market earlier this year.

The agreement, which builds on Strategic Marine’s previous CTV delivery to Korea, will see the build-out of a StratCat 27 CTV unit – an evolution from the previous StratCat 26 a current popular choice amongst European operators.

The vessel’s new design will specifically meet the needs of Korea’s coastal conditions while providing safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation for wind farm technicians, the shipbuilder said.

Designed by BMT, the vessel will be fit to accommodate for up to 24 passengers and 3 crew members and built with future-proof capabilities, allowing for easy upgrades to hybrid propulsion systems for improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

Strategic Marine has built and delivered more than 600 vessels made of both aluminium and steel for a variety of clients in over 30 countries. Delivery dates for the latest newbuild have not been disclosed.
