Greek tanker player Halkidon Shipping has sealed a deal privately, doubling its money offloading the 14-year-old 112,700 dwt, New Times-built LR2 tanker Elli.Â
This ship was purchased in a bank-driven sale in 2018, adding one of the last ships from Gregory Callimanopoulos’s Toisa for $22m.Â
The vessel has now been sold and renamed Nilanga and is listed as owned by a Shanghai-registered account named Wei Hai Yuan Jing Ship. No price tag has been attached to the deal. However, the online pricing portal VesselsValue indicates that the vessel market value is now worth $36.46m.Â
According to sales registers, the last comparable deal was sealed in October, when Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis-led Marla Tankers made two highly lucrative sales selling two Samsung-built,115,800 dwt sister ships for $42m each, doubling his money on these ships he bought six years ago.
