A video has emerged of another gantry crane shipment gone wrong. The brand-new Shang De Wu Yi Shan was damaged last week when two gantry cranes shifted and fell over the side of the ship off the Spanish coastlineÂ
The cargo shift happened during stormy conditions with most of the two 2006-built cranes sinking into the sea off the port of A Coruna. Some of the falling debris caused damage to the recently delivered ship’s hull and deck. The Chinese-flagged heavylift ship remains at anchorage in Spain.Â
Splash reported in October on another troubled crane shipment when a ship accidentally knocked down an existing quay crane at Keelung Port in Taiwan while docking to unload another pair of new cranes.
An earlier version of this report carried by Splash incorrectly suggested these shipments were linked to ZPMC, an error for which the publishers of this site have apologised.
